General guidance from typical seasonal averages – always check a live forecast before you book. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 (peak August-October); a storm in season is the exception, not the rule, and travel insurance is smart in those months.
Puerto Rico: season by season
High & dry season. Mid-December through April is the driest, most popular stretch – sunny, warm and buzzing, with the island’s famously long festive season running well into January. Expect high-season prices.
Hurricane & low season. August through November carries the highest hurricane risk (Hurricane María in 2017 was a severe outlier) and the heaviest rain, especially September-October. Deals abound for the flexible.
Shoulder season (best value). Late April through June brings warm, mostly dry days and better rates before the wet season fully sets in.
