Grenada, the fragrant ‘Spice Isle,’ lies at the southern edge of the hurricane belt, so it’s statistically less storm-prone than the islands to its north (Hurricane Ivan in 2004 was a rare, severe exception). It’s lush, laid-back and gloriously green.
General guidance from typical seasonal averages – always check a live forecast before you book. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30 (peak August-October); a storm in season is the exception, not the rule, and travel insurance is smart in those months.
Grenada: season by season
High & dry season. January through May is the dry season – warm, sunny days perfect for beaches, diving and spice-plantation tours. High season and its prices peak December through April.
Hurricane & low season. June through December is the wet season, with the heaviest rain and the highest – though comparatively modest – hurricane risk around August to October. Rates ease accordingly.
Shoulder season (best value). Late April into May, and November into early December, bridge the seasons with warm weather and better value.

Spicemas, Grenada’s exuberant carnival, erupts in August; the pioneering Underwater Sculpture Park is a bucket-list dive and snorkel; and the Chocolate Festival celebrates the island’s cocoa in May. Sea temps stay a warm 82-84°F.
