The short version:
  • The Pyrmont Curaçao, Marriott’s first all-inclusive on the island, now expects to open in early December 2026 — its third target date after “third quarter” and November 16.
  • 305 rooms including 36 suites, adults only (18+), on the oceanfront in Willemstad’s Pietermaai district, about 8 miles and 20 minutes from the airport.
  • Two of the headline venues — the Cerro Bonito restaurant and the Vista Waldeck rooftop — are not opening until 2027.
  • Opening rates were advertised in the upper $600s a night in August 2026; Sandals Curaçao, 40 minutes down the coast, is in its Black Friday sale with up to $2,250 in credit until December 1.

What changed with The Pyrmont Curaçao

If you booked The Pyrmont Curaçao for its November 16 opening, you need to check your reservation: the opening is now expected in the first week of December 2026, Caribbean Journal reported on November 6. The resort’s own site still says only “Opening 2026.”

This is the third date for the project. When Caribbean Journal first covered the resort on January 4, 2026, the opening was “scheduled for the third quarter of this year.” The Curaçao Chronicle reported on August 14 that it had slipped to November 16, with first stays bookable on Marriott from that date. Now it is early December, and even that is a phased opening — Caribbean Journal reports the resort is advising guests that some amenities may initially have limited availability.

The resort was first announced in 2023, so a few more weeks is not a scandal. It matters a lot, though, if your flight lands on November 20.

What The Pyrmont Curaçao is

It is an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, the first Marriott-branded all-inclusive on Curaçao, at Penstraat 16 in Pietermaai, the restored neighborhood of pastel townhouses on the ocean side of historic Willemstad. That is the opposite of a Sandals-style compound: you can walk into the UNESCO-listed old town for dinner, and the airport is about 8 miles and 20 minutes away.

Marriott’s listing counts 305 rooms, 36 of them suites, every one with a sea or Willemstad view, wrapped around two restored historic residences, Cerro Bonito and Kas di Pueblo. Minimum check-in age is 18. The all-inclusive program covers your room, meals and snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, the minibar, in-room dining, entertainment, non-motorized water sports (snorkeling, kayaks, paddleboards), taxes, service charges and gratuities. Scheduled round-trip airport transfers are listed as included. Spa treatments, motorized water sports, tours and premium items cost extra.

Because it is a Marriott, you can book it with Marriott Bonvoy points, which no Sandals or Beaches resort offers.

What will actually be open in December

Here is the part the opening announcement glosses over. Marriott lists seven dining and bar venues, and two of them carry a 2027 date.

VenueWhat it isStatus on Marriott’s page (Nov 7, 2026)
SaboríaMediterranean-Caribbean all-day diningListed, no date caveat

What it means: an all-inclusive with five of seven venues running is still a working resort, but the two with the best views are the two you will not get this winter. The garden pool and the infinity pool are still “photo coming soon” on Marriott’s page as of November 7. If a rooftop sunset or the infinity pool is why you picked this resort, book for 2027 instead.

The Pyrmont Curaçao vs Sandals Curaçao

Most of the couples who ask us about Curaçao are weighing it against Sandals Curaçao, so here is how the two line up on the facts we can date.

What it means: these are two different vacations. The Pyrmont is for a couple who wants to walk to the cafés and the colored waterfront after dinner. Sandals Curaçao is the one you pick to stay put — and I will be honest about it: the beach there is small and rocky. What redeems it is the double-decker infinity-edge pool, the pretty canal-side beach strip with parrots and hummingbirds, top-notch service and great dining.

The money angle

Curaçao is my hurricane-season play — the ABC islands sit outside the hurricane belt — so a December opening lands in the one window where that argument does not apply and prices are peak. Opening rates in the upper $600s a night come with no sale to stack, while Sandals Curaçao is handing back up to $2,250 on a 14-night stay plus a $750 air credit on 7 nights or more, book by December 1 (our Black Friday breakdown has the credit by stay length). For a brand-new resort, the money hack is simpler: let it open, let the first guests find the soft spots, and book a 2027 shoulder month when the rooftop and Cerro Bonito are running.

What this means if you’re booking

  • Booked for November 16–30? Call Marriott or your advisor now and ask how stays before the new opening date are being handled — moved, refunded or rebooked — and sort out any flight change before the fares move.
  • Booking December 2026? Expect a soft opening: five of seven venues, two pools still being finished, and limited availability on some amenities, as Caribbean Journal reported. Confirm anything specific to your stay before you pay.
  • Want the whole resort? Book 2027, after Cerro Bonito (early 2027) and Vista Waldeck open. Compare it against Sandals Curaçao’s current terms before December 1 if you can travel in 2027 or 2028.
