Awful Vacation Destination
Traveler Review By: buckleup4886 / buckleup4886 from New Jersey
Date of Visit: March 2008
The Club Fortuna is a dive of a resort and should be ashamed to charge people to stay there. From the moment we arrived we were disappointed. We did not have any bell service to bring us to our rooms and we were given 1 key for the 3 people staying in our room. The rooms were dirty and as soon as we opened the door we found our TV remote broken, the bed frame on of of the beds broken, no wash clothes, our back door off the hinge and our safe broken. After spending a while on the phone with Guest Services, we had everything taken care of. The staff was rude and very slow. There were spring breakers at the resort and we had security come bang on our door one morning telling us to come to the front desk as we were being charged $61 for a plastic chair that was found broken behind our hotel building. Although it wasn't our chair, as our chair was still intact on our patio, the hotel manager said if we didn't pay the $61 he would just take it out of the credit card given as a security deposit for the room. We said he couldn't do that and he informed us that he could, and if we opposed he would call the police and have us deported. The food was awful, we weren't able to make reservations for either of the 2 "specialty" restaurants because they were apparently completely booked the whole week. There was nothing to do during the day. The staff had no interactive involvement with the guests. This all inclusive resort claims to have tips and gratuities included, but the bar tenders only served people who had money being waved around. If you weren't willing to throw money to them, you would wait anywhere from 25-35 minutes to be served at the bar. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
