Three of Jamaica’s most beloved Sandals resorts are in the middle of a massive transformation — and the details coming out of Sandals Resorts International point to something genuinely significant.

Sandals has committed $200 million to reimagine Sandals South Coast, Sandals Royal Caribbean, and Sandals Montego Bay. All three properties closed for renovations and are expected to reopen in late 2026, joining the Sandals 2.0 design language introduced at Sandals Saint Vincent and the recently reimagined Sandals Dunn’s River.

What’s Changing

Based on what Sandals has revealed so far, here’s what travelers can expect:

New dining concepts are being introduced across all three properties, including Buccan (a new fire-forward grill concept), BLUM (a fresh culinary experience), and an expanded Rum Club — none of which exist at any current Sandals resort. These represent a meaningful evolution of the Sandals dining program.

Pool and swim-up areas are being completely redesigned with the contemporary aesthetic that debuted at Sandals Saint Vincent — think infinity edges, swim-up suites, and more resort-pool variety than the traditional Sandals layout.

Room product upgrades are bringing the interiors in line with the modern Sandals 2.0 standard: cleaner lines, elevated finishes, and improved suite configurations.

My Take

Having visited all 17 Sandals and Beaches resorts, I can tell you that the properties going through this renovation were already strong — but they were showing their age compared to the newer builds like Sandals Saint Vincent and the reimagined Dunn’s River. A $200 million investment across three properties signals that Sandals is serious about bringing its entire Jamaica portfolio up to the standard set by its newest resorts.

For anyone planning a late 2026 or 2027 Caribbean trip, these reopenings represent a once-in-a-generation opportunity. You’ll be among the first guests at what will essentially be brand-new resorts — with the benefit of established teams, proven locations, and the operational maturity of properties that have been running for years.
